Make Baby'S First Birthday Invitations

Making your own invitations for Baby's First Birthday is a fun and meaningful way to add a special touch to your child's big day. When you mail these out, you're not only giving people an invitation to a party, but you're also giving them a memento of your child's first year of life.

Instructions

1. Choose a favorite photo of your baby. The photo can be a newborn picture or a recent picture.

2. Print out copies of the chosen photo on your printer. Most printing programs allow you to print anywhere from 1 to 20 copies of the photo on the same page. Choose the option that will print the pictures small enough to fit on your card while also leaving room for text.

3. Mat your photos with scrapbook paper. Cut scrapbook paper just a bit bigger than your photo size, then glue the picture to your mat. Carefully hand-torn photo mats can make the invitation more child like, which matches the first birthday theme well.

4. Choose text for the front of your invitation. An Internet search will bring up many first birthday poems that can be used for the title; or a simple "Baby's 1st Birthday!" is fine.

5. Hand-write your chosen text on each card or use a scrapbooking program and print the text directly onto the cards. Using a scrapbook program allows for added details other than text to the front of the card. Be sure you have extra cards, because sometimes it takes a few trials before the invitation prints properly.

6. Type up the party details in a word-processing or scrapbooking program. Print them directly onto the inside of the cards. Be sure the ink is dry on the outside of the cards if you printed directly onto the front of the cards as well.

7. Glue the matted photos of baby to the fronts of the invitations once the ink is dry on both the inside and outside.
