Make Mini Paper Umbrellas

A paper umbrella turns any drink into a party cocktail.

A paper umbrella will turn any drink into a party beverage. These uncomplicated umbrellas add a festive element to summertime cocktails like frozen margaritas and gin and tonics, and can add a wintry holiday spirit to some peppermint schnapps. Children, who could be drafted into making some of these umbrellas before a party, will find these tiny umbrellas a fun addition to their fruit punch drinks, and can use them as accessories for their favorite fashion dolls. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Stand the soup can on the origami paper and draw around it with the pencil.

2. Cut out the circle of paper with the pinking shears.

3. Cut a slit from the edge of the circle to the center. Slide the slit edges together 1-inch and attach them with double-stick tape to create the umbrella top.

4. Trim the wooden skewer to a 4-inch length with the pruning shears.

5. Attach the skewer to the inside center of the paper umbrella with white glue.
