Make Green Tea Mochi

Make Green Tea Mochi


Green tea mochi is an low-fat and low-calorie Japanese dessert made from sweet rice flour, gelatin, sugar and green tea. Red bean paste may also be added for additional flavor. This recipe for green tea mochi makes approximately 32 individual servings and contains only 90 calories per serving and less than a half gram of fat. Add this to my Recipe Box.


Instructions


1. Combine sweet rice flour, granulated sugar, gelatin and green tea powder in a large mixing bowl.


2. Add milk green tea and 12 oz. water to the dry ingredients. Stir well until thoroughly combined.


3. Pour the mixture into a greased 9 x13-inch pan. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and place in a 350 degrees F oven. Bake for 1 hour.


4. Remove the green tea mochi from the oven and allow it to cool for about 15 minutes, with the aluminum foil cover still on.


5. Cut the green tea mochi into 32 equally sized squares. Place approximately ½ teaspoon of red bean paste onto the center of each square, and then fold each square into a triangular shape, pressing on the sides to seal. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
