Make My Own Invitations For Free

Makeyour own invitations with supplies you already have.


Purchasing professionally printed invitations for every event can get expensive. You can save money, and exercise your creativity, by making your own invitations for your next party. Use supplies you already have on hand to customize the invitations for the event. Personalize the wording using your computer, and decorate the cards using paper and your imagination. These steps describe create a birthday invitation, but they can be adapted to create an invitation for any event.


Instructions


1. Use any word processing software, such as Microsoft Word or Works, to create the printed words. Choose any font, style or color, and type the information about the party. Open the print menu, and select the "Properties" tab. Change the page setup to "2 in 1," and print the words on to card stock paper in any color you like.


2. Lay the printed card stock down with the words facing up. Fold the left side of the paper over to meet the corners on the right side to create a side-opening card. If your want a landscape card, turn the card to the right so it opens at the bottom.


3. Use a paper cutter to cut a piece of birthday themed scrapbook paper to measure 8.5 inches by 4.25 inches. Run a line of tape over each edge of the back of the cut scrapbook paper. Position the paper over the front of the card, and press it down.


4. Cut a piece of white or light-colored card stock into a square measuring approximately 3 inches by 3 inches. (Feel free to alter the size or shape of this piece.) Place a few lines of tape along the back of the square and position it in the middle of the patterned paper.


5. Use birthday-themed paper punches to create die-cut shapes of balloons, birthday cakes, gift packages or ice cream cones out of card stock in coordinating colors. Place a foam dot on the back of each shape, and arrange the shapes in a decorative pattern on square cut in Step 4. If you do not have paper punches, you can trace the outline of the shapes on to card stock and cut them out with scissors.
