Print your own personalized photo birthday invitations at home.
Including a photo on a birthday party invitation adds a personal touch and creates a keepsake invitation that recipients can hang on a fridge or bulletin board. Rather than paying extra to have personalized photo birthday invitations printed from an online retailer, make and print your own at home for free. You have full control over the design, the wording of the party information and the photos and images on the invitation. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Open a blank document in a program such as Publisher, Paint, Photoshop, InDesign or Illustrator.
2. Format the document to divide it into three long strips measuring 3.67 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide. Invitations this size will fit into standard business envelopes.
3. Select a background color or design for the invitations from the options available in your computer program. Consider using the birthday boy's favorite color or a color related to the theme of the party, like yellow for a toddler party themed after rubber ducks.
4. Import a digital photo on your computer's hard drive into the program. Size it to no more than 3 inches tall so it will fit in an invitation and leave space around the edges for the border. Move the photo to where you want it at the top of the three invitations on the page. You will copy and paste the other two invitations later.
5. Create a text box and type in a heading for the invitation. For example, you could write, "Dennis is turning 3!" Choose a font you like and increase the text size so the heading will stand out.
6. Create another text box and type in the party information, including the time, date, location and RSVP information. Change the font and size so it fits in the remaining space on the invitation.
7. Choose clip art or other design elements to fit into any additional space you have on the invitation.
8. Copy the entire contents of the first invitation and paste it into the two invitation strips below. Printing three invitations per page will keep you from wasting paper.
9. Print one test sheet of invitations on regular paper and cut them apart. Make sure the formatting looks correct, the text is legible and the party information is correct. Make changes to the document as needed.
10. Print sheets of photo invitations on card stock or photo paper. Divide the number of invitations needed by three to find out how many sheets of invitations to print.
