Lds Singles Activities

Are you tired of the same old Latter-Day Saints singles' activities? Does the idea of another potluck or night of playing mafia make you ill? If so, why not plan an outing that's different and helps you get to know the members of your ward or branch on a deeper level? LDS functions need not be drudgery, and with a few new ideas, you might enjoy socializing a bit more.

Hiking

No matter what part of the world you live in, hiking trails can be found. Whether you hike along the beach, high atop the Rocky Mountains or in the desert, it doesn't matter. Hiking is an excellent way to get to know your fellow saints and enjoy each others' company. Best of all, it's an activity that requires no skill, so no one in your ward will be left out. Just pick an easy to moderate hike, and everyone will be able to accomplish the task.

Boating

If you live anywhere close to a body of water, plan an outing where you can kayak, canoe or simply ride on low-speed motorboats. After two minutes of instruction, paddling or steering a boat will not be a problem. Consider renting double kayaks and placing people together who don't know each other well.

If kayaks or canoes are unavailable, pool your money and rent a boat--or several if need be. There's nothing better than being on the water, and most people come away from these activities feeling totally refreshed. For some members of your ward, it might be the first time they have ever participated in such activities, so you will be further broadening their horizons.

International Food Night

Each month, select a different restaurant that serves cuisine from another country and meet your fellow singles for dinner. You can designate someone to be in charge of this or have a different member of your ward choose the dining establishment each month. Not only does this expand everyone's taste buds, but it provides an easy way for members to bring friends to activities. After all, who doesn't like to eat?
