Use Vinegar In A Dishwasher

Use vinegar to clean your dishwasher.

Residue, odors and bacteria easily accumulate in the dishwasher since it is an enclosed unit that often holds in moisture. When cleaning this appliance, choose something mild and nontoxic since you will be eating off the dishes and utensils cleaned in your dishwasher. Instead of turning to chemical-based cleaning products formulated with harmful ingredients, try the inexpensive white vinegar that is most likely already in your kitchen pantry. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Fill a dishwasher-safe bowl with white vinegar. Use about 1 cup of vinegar or enough to fill about three-quarters of the bowl.

2. Place the bowl on the highest rack in the dishwasher. Nothing else should be in the dishwasher.

3. Turn on the dishwasher and run a full cycle on the hottest setting. The vinegar will flush through the walls and racks of your dishwasher, disinfecting and cleaning the entire unit.

4. Repeat monthly or as needed depending on how often the dishwasher is used.
