Start A Bingo Night At School

Bingo

Bingo night is a great way to get kids, parents, and teachers together for a night of fun. Bingo can be played for pure pleasure or it can be organized as a very successful fundraiser. It only takes a few organizers to put together this event. If you are researching the idea of a bingo night you may want to contact two friends that would be willing to take on this adventure with you. They can each take an area such as getting prize donations or coming up with advertising campaigns. Together you can all start a bingo night at school.

Instructions

1. Get permission. This is the first and most important step. You must contact the school principal or administrator to find out get permission to organize a bingo night. They might tell you that you need to get permission from the school board. Once you have permission you can continue.

2. Decide if you want to hold the bingo night in the gym or in a cafeteria. A cafeteria already has tables and chairs set up so it is the most logical choice. You will also want to serve refreshments which could get spilled, so a cafeteria is ideal.

3. Purchase or borrow the necessary equipment. You will need bingo boards, bingo chips and a bingo blower which pulls out the numbers one at a time. You can buy the equipment at Cactus Bingo supply (see Resources).

4. Choose a date. Check with the school to make sure there isn't anything else going on that day. If that day is free you can have the school reserve it for you and then proceed.

5. Decide if you are going to charge an entry fee. This can be used to recoup your expenses for the night or it can be used for charity. Make sure that if there is an entry fee, that you place that information on your flyers.

6. Make up flyers and posters announcing the bingo night. Hang the posters throughout the school in the hallways and hand the flyers out to each class. The teachers can distribute the flyers to the students as they head out for the bus.

7. Contact local vendors to see if they will donate prizes. Ideally you should have at least 10. They can be simple baskets or they can be gift certificates to a restaurant. It doesn't matter. Once you have some cool prizes to give out you can move on to the refreshments.

8. Organize a few families to bake some desserts. This is the cheapest way to go about it. Then buy some soda and juice to offer the bingo players. If you are trying to raise money you can charge for the refreshments. Have the refreshments available before the games begin.

9. Host the event. Greet your players at the door and get everyone settled for the games. Call out the numbers and check the winners board to make sure they really did win. Then hand them out a prize. Play about 10 games and then call it a night.
