Make Snow With An Air Compressor & Hose

Homeowners can make snow if winter doesn't supply it for their holiday celebrations.

Build a snow gun if nature hasn't obliged to satisfy your need for snow. The device combines water and compressed air, sprayed when temperatures are below 27 degrees Fahrenheit, to make snow. While the project requires several plumbing components, it can be assembled easily with purchased items. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Build or purchase a snowmaker. Small-scale snowmakers have fittings for a garden hose and compressed air hose. A control valve on the water input is used to set water flow. The compressed air and water mix in the device and are sprayed through a small opening.

2. Connect the snowmaker to a air compressor capable of 90 pounds per square inch with an air flow of at least 400 cubic feet per minute. Attach the water input to a standard garden hose.

3. Start the air compressor first. When it is operating slowly open the water valve. Spray the mist of water into the air. Snowmakers work best in conditions in cold dry conditions. Adjust the water flow to create the optimum snow productions.
