Make Fruit & Flower Centerpieces
If you want to make different fruit and flower centerpieces, you can spend hours sculpting fruit into shapes to arrange with flowers. If you're looking for a way to create breath-taking centerpieces that do not require large quantities of time and money, try some sliced-fruit arrangements. You need two clear glass vases to create the centerpiece. One vase needs to be large and sturdy. The second vase needs to be small enough to sit inside the large vase but tall enough to end at about the same height as the large vase.
Instructions
Stone-Centered Fruit and Flower Centerpiece
1. Place the small glass vase for the fruit and flower centerpiece on a flat surface. Carefully fill the vase about 3/4 full with decorative stones.
2. Play with the branches of orchid flowers to come up with an attractive, simple arrangement for the fruit and flower centerpiece. Push each branch into the stones where needed to create the arrangement, using scissors to cut any stems needed. Make sure no flowers fall lower than 1-inch above the rim of the small glass vase.
3. Center the small glass vase inside the large vase. Judge how much space there is between the outer wall of the small vase and the inner wall of the large vase. This area tells you how thick to slice your limes for the fruit and flower centerpiece. Slice your limes as needed and slide them into the large vase. Make sure to wedge as many lime slices as possible along the glass walls of the large vase. Fill the large vase with water.
Lime-Centered Fruit and Flower Centerpiece
4. Slice the limes into small wedges. Fill the small vase 2/3 full with lime wedges. Fill the vase 3/4 full with water. Add the orchid branches to the small vase, using the small lime wedges to secure the flowers in place. Center the small vase inside the large vase.
5. Carefully fill the large vase 1/4 full with decorative stones. Add lime wedges to the vase until it is 1/3 full and finish the large vase off by filling it 1/2 full with water.
6. Place fruit and flower centerpiece in the middle of a table. Place a whole lime on the left and right sides of the vase centerpiece. Cut the stems on two orchids, 1-inch long each. Push an orchid stem into the top of a lime. Push the second orchid into the top of the second lime.
