Make Monkey Bread Using Biscuit Dough

Monkey bread is a sweet pull-apart dessert bread that is a great addition to a potluck or dinner party. Guests can easily pull off a segment of the bread and eat it on a small plate or even a napkin. Customize this basic monkey bread recipe by adding other spices, such as cardamom, or using various chopped nuts or dried fruits. Chopped pecans and dried cranberries would make the cake seasonal for a Thanksgiving party, for example. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease the interior of the bundt pan with cooking spray.

2. Open the tubes of biscuits and pull the biscuit segments away from each other. Cut each biscuit into four pieces.

3. Pour 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 tbsp. of cinnamon into a gallon-sized resealable plastic bag. Shake well to combine. Add the biscuit pieces to the bag and shake until they are well-coated.

4. Melt 3/4 cup butter in a saucepan over medium high heat. Add 1 cup of brown sugar when the butter has just melted. Cook, stirring, until the sugar has melded into the butter.

5. Add the coated biscuit pieces into the bundt pan, packing them down evenly around the sides. Sprinkle walnuts and raisins randomly among the pieces while placing them in the pan. Pour the butter-and-sugar mixture over the biscuits. Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
