Make Pirate Party Invitations

Pirate theme parties are a lot of fun, and so many ideas can be incorporated into the decorating, food and activities. If you are planning a pirate theme party, go all out from the start by inviting your guests with great pirate theme invitations. These invitations are creative and a bit unusual, but they will immediately set the tone and let your guests know they are in for a great time. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Message in a Bottle

1. Decide on your invitation wording and type it in your computer word processing program. Be sure to include all pertinent information such as the date, time and location. Center the font and leave 2-inch margins on all sides. Use an interesting font with an old-fashioned or handwritten feel to it.

2. Print out your invitation on 8 1/2-by-11-inch sheets of white or tan parchment, or card stock paper found at stores where scrapbooking supplies are sold.

3. Tear off most of the edges of the invitation to make the paper look old. If you have parchment, you can crinkle the paper a little bit, and smooth it out again. Don't try to crinkle card stock, as the thickness of it may make it look too messy.

4. Steep some tea bags in hot water for a few minutes. Remove them and place them in a cup until they cool. Squeeze out excess water. Dab your paper with the moist tea bags to make it look stained and antiqued.

5. Allow the invitations to dry. Roll them up and place each invitation into a bottle. Cork the bottle. If you are concerned that the cork is loose, light a candle and dribble some wax onto the cork to help seal it.

6. Deliver your invitations by passing them out to friends, or wrap them in newspaper and place them in a box for mailing.

Treasure Map Invitations

7. On one side of your parchment, print out a premade treasure map (see references below).

8. On the other side, print out your party details.

9. Tear and tea stain the paper as instructed in the "message in a bottle" invitations above.

10. Roll up the invitations and tie them with a ribbon, then pass them out to friends. Alternatively, purchase some pirate coins from a party store. Make sure they have a textured image. Roll up the paper and dribble some candle wax as a seal. Once the wax is beginning to harden, press the pirate coin into soft wax to imprint the pirate image on it.
