Make Hula Hoops

Sure, you could go buy a hula hoop at the toy store, but maybe you have a budding scientist at home who's curious about how things are put together. This is a great and fun activity for developing that creative mind in your child. Plus, you'll learn make something new yourself.

Instructions

1. Choose how big a hoop you'd like to make and cut the tubing to the desired length. You may want to do this at the hardware store if you don't have a saw at home.

2. Stick one end of the tubing into hot water for 2 minutes.

3. Stick the hot end of the tubing over the coupling until it reaches the center line.

4. Stick the other end of the tube into the hot water. While it's warming up, drop your beads into the coupling end of the tubing.

5. Slide the second end of the tubing onto the coupling until both sides touch.

6. Wrap the seam with several layers of electrical tape to form a seal. Use other colors of tape to decorate the hoop, criss-crossing at different angles to make a pretty design.
