Select A Beach Party Theme

Plan your next event with a beach party theme, and surf your way to a whole new wave of fun. Get really creative by honing your theme down to a specific film or person, such as "Gidget," the "Beach Blanket Bingo" movies, "Little Mermaid" (for kids) or a Roaring Twenties beach theme (complete with parasols and long bathing suits). Before you get started, evaluate how much you want to spend and where to have this one-of-a-kind beach shindig.

Instructions

Select a Theme for a Childrens' Beach Party

1. Select a theme based on an event important in the child's life. For a child's birthday or graduation, gear your theme toward that milestone and simply add a beach theme to it.

2. Choose invitations, decorations and party favors that reflect the topic and have beach significance. For instance, you can glue a "Happy Graduation" sign onto a beach towel and hang it behind a buffet table for a low-cost, adorable decoration.

3. Have the party cake decorated with sugar seashells or cupcakes decorated with marzipan palm trees. You can do a lot with food to enhance the overall theme. Decorate food and gift tables with gummy-candy fish, and serve drinks in beach-theme paper glasses or even coconut shells. Find party supplies at PartySuppliesHut.com.

4. Select a more extravagant theme honoring an age-old activity: sandcastle building. Give out sandcastle-themed coloring books as prizes. Set up a sandbox for play-time activities, complete with pails, shovels and wet sand.

Choose a Theme for an Adult Beach Party

5. Model your theme after the Elvis beach movies, such as "Blue Hawaii" or "Girl Crazy." Invite guests to wear outfits honoring the King, and have several of his recordings on hand to set the musical vibe.

6. Create your own recipes and drinks named after Elvis. At the bar area, hang a sign detailing what's in the "Blue Hawaii Smoothie." Label the main food station the "Elvis Clambake," and serve up "rock-a-hula-baby" shrimp kabobs.

7. Select a fun group event to get people moving and mingling. Give a quick "Twist" or "Watusi" dance lesson highlighting the dance fads of the '60s. Be sure and play the tune "Do The Clam" by Elvis sometime during the party.
