Make Free Printable Invitations Online

Making your own invitations allows you to customize the invites according to your specifications. You can choose your own picture, insert a personal photo, choose your own font settings and print them on the paper of your choice. Printing your own invitations can also save you money. Invitations can get pricey, especially the more detailed invites. Use an online site to create your own free, printable invitations. It takes very little time, and can be done from the convenience of your own home.

Instructions

1. Purchase invitation paper. Both solids and prints look great for invitations. Choose a print that matches your event theme, if you decide to go with print paper. For example, if you are having a pool party, select a print that has beach umbrellas, floats or beach balls. As long as you can fit the paper in your printer, paper size doesn't matter.

2. Design your free printable invitations on an online site. Try Ivy's Greeting Cards and Invitations, My Card Maker or Invitationland.

3. Scan through the pictures on the online site and choose one for your invitation. Choose a birthday cake or balloons if you're hosting a birthday party; choose booties or a stork, for a baby shower. The picture you choose should match the type of event you are hosting. My Card Maker will allow you to upload your own photo to add to the invites.

4. Pick a text color, size and font, but consider the type of paper you are printing on. Use a lighter contrasting font color if the paper is dark so the text will show up. If you are using a light color paper, then almost any font color will work, though darker colors will show up best. Choose a font style and size that is legible.

5. Write your own text and type in your message. Include the party location, date, time and RSVP information. If guests need to bring something to the party, include that information as well. For example, "Don't forget to bring a towel!" would be a good reminder for a pool party.

6. Spell check your work once you have finished your invitation. Once satisfied, try a test print. Print as many invitations as you need. Add ribbon or embellishments to spruce up the invites if you wish.
