Make Party Crowns

Create wearable crowns for your party.

No fantasy party is complete without crowns for the guests to wear on their heads. Party crowns can be made before your party or as an activity for your guests in which they design and decorate their own crowns and then wear them during the party. You can use card stock as the primary material for the crowns, as the heavier material will keep the crowns from drooping when they have additional materials attached. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure around the top of each party guest's head, just above the eyebrows. Mark down the measurements for each guest.

2. Draw a horizontal line near the bottom of a piece of card stock that measures one inch longer than the head measurement.

3. Draw two vertical lines measuring four inches each and extending up from each end of the horizontal line.

4. Connect the two top points of the vertical lines by drawing several slopes and peaks across the card stock. Add other designs such as crescents or circles on the body of the crown. Any designs can be used as long as one continuous line connects both ends of the crown.

5. Color in the crowns with markers or make additional colored designs within the shape.

6. Make swirls of white glue on the crown shapes. Sprinkle glitter on the swirls before they dry, then tip the card stock onto the newspaper to remove excess glitter.

7. Attach plastic gems around the crown with a glue gun. Avoid using glass or heavy gems, as this can cause the crown to bend. Wait for the glue to dry.

8. Cut out the crowns. Bend the two ends back into a circle. Allow one end of the crown to overlap the other by one inch. Staple the top and bottom of the overlap to secure the ends of the crown. Place a crown on top of each party guest's head.
