Take Photos Like Kate Moss

Kate Moss appeared on the modeling scene when so-called Glamazons, like Cindy Crawford, dominated the industry. Her skinny, childlike appearance, which caught the eye of modeling exec, Sarah Doukas, ultimately became her key to success. With credits ranging from the cover of "Vogue" to print campaigns for Dior and Bulgari, Kate's resume is extraordinary. To take photos like Kate Moss, you must have natural talent, thick skin and incredible drive.

Instructions

1. Put your imagination to work. Kate enjoys the fantasy element of photo shoots, admitting that she still plays dress-up in the privacy of her own home. She reveals that she doesn't really like to pose as herself, but likes to portray different characters in her pictures, blending acting and modeling.

2. Work with people who bring out the best in you. Moss feels that she produces her best work when she collaborates with people whose creative visions complement her own. Her favorite designers are John Galliano, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen, and although she denies having a favorite photographer, she works well with Mario Testino.

3. Have a look that sets you apart from the crowd. Although Moss's thin physique draws much criticism, the model's waif look propelled her to supermodel status and put her back on the map in the early 21st century. Her unconventional beauty led to her first big campaign for Calvin Klein in 1992.

4. Be versatile. Whether modeling Louis Vuitton handbags, Calvin Klein jeans or couture Yves Saint Laurent, Kate nails her shots. A fashion chameleon, she adapts her poses and facial expressions to fit each client's clothes and concept.

5. Be fierce. Kate Moss speaks through her eyes in her photos. Her pouty lips and high cheek bones add to her intensity. You don't have to have Kate's features to take killer shots, but you must connect with the camera and work what you've got.

6. Take risks. Moss posed for the cover of British Magazine, "The Face," in 1990 wearing little makeup and looking more girl-next-door than glamorous. In what was perhaps her most controversial photo shoot, Kate posed in black face in a special edition of "The Independent" for the RED campaign. Right or wrong, Kate knows take attention grabbing photos.
