Seward Military Resort (SMR), located in Seward, Alaska, is a wonderful vacation option for active duty and reservist military personnel and their families. The resort, best known for its world-class fishing, features a motel, townhouses and a log cabin as well as yurts and RV camping. SMR is open year-round and is located near numerous sightseeing opportunities in the Seward area, including snowmobile tours, hiking and air tours. Guests will also want to take advantage of special on-site activities such as dinner theater, the polar bear jump, and the Silver Salmon Derby.
Instructions
1. Choose your accommodations. Motel rooms sleep up to four people and start at $76 per night based on double occupancy, as of late 2010. Townhouses sleep up to six and start at $150 based on quadruple occupancy. The log cabin sleeps two and starts at $117. Yurts, small framed tents in the camping area, sleep up to four and start at $22. RV camping starts at $23 per night. An additional fee of $15 per person over 18 is assessed for motels and townhouses over the regular occupancy rate.
2. Call 800-770-1858 to make your reservations up to one year in advance. Seward Military Resort does not take reservations online.
3. Book your activities. Seward Military Resort offers discounts on area activities that are often less than the discounted military rate. In addition, SMR offers fishing excursions and snowmobile tours. Special activities such as mystery theater are available at different times throughout the year.
