Make Free Personal Invitations

Party Invitation

Creating invitations can become an expensive task. This is especially true if you want to customize your invitations. Adding pictures and personalized text often makes the price go up. Make your own invitations from home and save some money. You can print them off on your printer, or save it to a thumb drive and take it to an office supply store to print. The easiest way to make professional, customized invitations is by using desktop publishing software that has invitation templates such as Microsoft 7, Adobe or Corel software. It only takes a few minutes to create professional, customized invitations. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Open the desktop publishing software on your computer. Go through your Start menu, or double click on the icon on your desktop to open the software. Click on "File" and then on "New" to open a window. The window will contain a list of templates to choose from such as resumes, business cards, invitations and letters.

2. Choose "Invitations" to see the invitation templates available. Scroll through the templates until you find one that you like. Click on the template to preview it. Some invitations will be more formal, while others will be more casual. Weddings, retirement parties, dinner parties and graduation parties will require a more formal invitation, while birthday parties, dance parties and cocktail parties can be more casual.

3. When you have decided on a template, hit the "download" button. This will bring up the invitation template on your computer screen. You can now add text and pictures.

4. Enter the event information and add pictures if you want to add a personal touch. To add a picture, click on the area of the invitation you wish to add the picture. Click on insert and you should be able to browse the illustrations or photos saved on your computer. Click on the picture and it will appear on your invitation.

5. Proofread your invitation before you print it. If you want to add a layer of vellum, a decorative transparent film, over your invitation, simply place the vellum over the front of the invitation. Use a hole punch to punch two holes 1/2 inch apart at the top of the invitation and vellum. Use a small piece of ribbon to tie a bow through the holes to hold the vellum onto the invitation. You have just created a beautiful, customized invitation your guests are sure to love.
