Make Centerpieces For An Engagement Dinner

Get creative with your centerpieces.

A lot of work goes into planning the perfect engagement party. One important element that should never be overlooked is the centerpieces. Not only are they a focal point at each table, but they help define and unify the theme of a party. They are easy to make--all you need is a few supplies and a little creativity. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Place a round or square mirror right-side-up in the middle of one table. The mirror should be large enough to place a vase and several candles on; however, it should not be so large that is dominates the table or takes away too much space from guests who are sitting there.

2. Place a vase on top of the mirror. Tall is better suited for an elegant and/or formal event, whereas short is more appropriate for a causal party. If the party is being held in a rural setting, you could even use mason jars in lieu of vases. Other elements to consider include width--you don't want it to be too wide for the table--and style; it should match your event and personality.

3. Fill the vase with flowers, branches and/or greenery. The length, content and type should complement the vase and formality of the party. Examples include putting tall branches in a tall and slender vase for an elegant event, wild flowers in a mason jar for a spring and/or rural event, tropical flowers in a short vase for a beach event or roses in a crystal vase for a romantic event.

4. Place glass tea light holders on the mirror, forming a circle around the centerpiece.

5. Sprinkle a few flower petals from your arrangement on the mirror.

6. Place tea lights in the tea light holders and light them.
