Throw Away A Gas Grill

If your gas grill has become rusty or damaged, it may no longer be safe to use. However, you can't just toss it out in the trash, which could cause a dangerous situation for your garbage collectors and landfill workers. In most areas, you can now dispose of your grill's various parts in ways that are safe and environmentally friendly. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove the gas cylinder from your grill. If you are going to get a new gas grill, you can exchange your old cylinder for a new one at BlueRhino and RapidXchange kiosks, frequently located at Home Depot, Lowe's and other home improvement stores. If you are not going to get a new cylinder, you can drop off the old one at the same locations.

2. Break down the grill by using the screwdriver to unscrew the nuts and bolts. Separate the pieces into metal and plastic parts and place them into sturdy garbage bags or boxes. If your neighborhood offers curbside recycling, you can put the parts out for recycling pickup. You can also take the parts to a recycling center.

3. Take the parts to your local Household Hazardous Waste pickup center or collection day if you do not have curbside or local recycling. If you do not have HHW collections in your area, call your garbage service and let them know you will putting the grill parts out in your next trash pickup. That way, the service can let your garbage collectors know to look for the grill parts and to handle them carefully.
