Inexpensive travel to Paris requires some patience and flexibility.
If you are dreaming of a getaway to Paris but have hesitated due to high-priced plane tickets, don't despair. Although international airfares have steadily increased in recent years, it is still possible to travel to Paris inexpensively. If you have patience, flexibility and a bit savvy, you will be sipping caf au lait in the City of Light sooner than you think.
Instructions
1. Plan an off-season trip to Paris. Airfares to Paris are significantly lower in the fall and winter than in the spring and summer. Even better, off-season travel equals shorter lines and less tourists crowding around the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.
2. Begin your search for cheap Paris flights at least two months in advance of when you plan to purchase tickets. Waiting until the last minute often results in sky-high ticket prices.
3. Compare routes and alternate airports. It is cheaper to fly into Dublin, Frankfurt or London's Gatwick than to other European airports, so consider booking a ticket to one of these hubs and booking a second ticket with a European budget carrier to get to Paris. Another option is to fly to a smaller city in France and travel to Paris via train or by rental car.
4. Use flight search aggregators to compare prices and sign up for newsletters and emails alerts from airlines with Paris routes. Visit major airlines' websites often, as certain airlines post their best fares on their own websites.
5. Depart on a Tuesday or Wednesday rather than over the weekend. Flights that depart in the middle of the week are far cheaper than flights that depart at the end of the week or during a weekend. Many airlines list their sale fares early in the week, so you are more likely to find travel deals on a Monday or a Tuesday.
