Use A Smith Corona Ta1632

The Smith Corona Ta-1632 can be used by the entire office.


Smith Corona, a manufacturing company famous for building the first typewriter and the first laptop word processor, is also the manufacturer of a telephone assistant -- or TA -- known as the Ta-1632. This discontinued model contains special features besides the actual phone, such as caller ID, that make telephone communications more efficient. After connecting the Smith Corona Ta-1632 to the phone line, it's important to learn use the device so that you can take advantage of its features.


Instructions


1. Use the keypad on the right side of the Ta-1632 for dialing outgoing phone calls. Press the speaker button below the star key to activate the speaker function for the machine. The speaker function gives you a hands-free alternative, so that you don't have to rely on the handset during your conversation.


2. Flip down the center flap to reveal the alphabet keys. Use the alphabet keypad for programming contacts into the Smith Corona Ta-1632, as well as for setting the monthly calendar and using the electronic notepad feature of the machine. Review the display buttons above the alphabet keypad to see which options suit your needs. Press the appropriate buttons to set up your electronic phonebook, calendar or notepad.


3. Use the large up and down arrows toward the top of the Smith Corona Ta-1632 to scroll through your voice messages, as well as your phone contacts. Retrieve voice mail messages by selecting the message you want to listen to, and pressing the "play" button.


4. Program your most frequently called phone numbers into the phone for automatic dialing. Select the speed dial function -- located just below the screen display -- by pressing the button, then type the number into that speed dial number and press enter. This stores the number so that all you have to do is pick up the receiver and press the speed dial button, and the assigned phone number will be called.


5. Press the delete button on the bottom left-hand side of the alphabet keypad, to remove contact information and other data that is programmed into the phone. You can also use this button to delete voicemail messages.


6. Read the screen when you have an incoming phone call. The screen displays the incoming phone number. If the phone number calling you happens to be programmed in your Smith Corona Ta-1632 under one of your contacts, the contact name appears instead of the phone number.
