Use A Pineapple As The Base For A Fruit Arrangement

Yes, you can have your pineapple and eat it too.

Whether you are hosting a neighborhood luau or a birthday party or are simply looking for some healthy recipes with fruit, naturally sweet pineapple is a nutritious option. In addition to its delicious taste, you can use a pineapple as the base of a fruit arrangement that will both look and taste great. Here are some helpful tips for preparing this fruitful arrangement. Instructions

1. Select a plate or platter as a base. Because pineapple juice is very sticky, you'll want to place it on a clean surface for presentation and serving. Your platter can be colorful and tropical or simply a plate from your cupboard.

2. Hold the pineapple steady with one hand. Slowly begin to slice through the pineapple lengthwise with a sharp knife; try to avoid cutting off the green stalk, because it will lend visual appeal to your fruit arrangement.

3. Keeping some of the fruit intact for color and overall presentation, scoop out the pineapple in the half you're going to use as a base with an ice cream scooper. Place that half of the pineapple on your platter, and cut up the remaining half.

4. Place the cut-up pineapple and any other fruit you choose (melon, strawberries, grapes and apples are all good options) in your pineapple base. Sprinkle with lemon juice to keep the fruit from turning brown, and serve.
