Throw A Party For First Grade Girls

A little girl's party can incorporate girlish color palettes into the decor.

First grade girls, who will typically be around 6 or 7 years old, can appreciate and be entertained by a variety of party themes, games and ideas. To begin planning your first grader party, first choose a theme, which will help dictate the decorations, goody bags and refreshments used at the party. Everything from the invitations to the cake to the games played should reflect the theme. A theme can be applied to a party that already has a specific purpose, such as a birthday party or end of school party. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose a theme for the party. For first grade girls this could be a "Hello Kitty" theme, a Disney Princess theme, a tea party, or a combination of two themes. For example, throw a princess tea party.

2. Send out invitations that relay the theme to the invitees. For example, for a princess tea party, specify the theme on the invitation so guests are prepared. Encourage the recipients to dress up in their favorite princess attire for the event.

3. Decorate the party area in relation to the theme. For a princess tea party, hang posters of princesses, such as the Disney princesses like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Ariel. Blow up balloons in girlish colors, such as pink, purple and yellow, and create a sign on the door or front lawn that reads "Princess Tea Party This Way," with an arrow pointing to the tea party area.

4. Set the table for the tea party. Cover the chairs and tables with tablecloths and chair covers to give them an elegant feel for the girls. Add cloth napkins to the table and prepare bouquets of flowers as centerpieces.

5. Place teapots filled with decaffeinated tea on the table, as well as pitchers of lemonade and fruit juice. Prepare trays of refreshments such as miniature sandwiches, fruit platters, pastries and cookies.

6. Set each place setting with a teacup and saucer as well as a plate. Add a crown to each place setting as well as a wand and a pair of white gloves. The girls can dress themselves up in princess attire as they munch on the refreshments.

7. Play the soundtrack of a movie that features a princess, such as Disney's "The Little Mermaid," or play the movie on a television in the background.

8. Create goody bags with the princess theme. Include princess stickers, coloring books and even small dolls or figurines. The girls can also keep the crowns, wands and gloves as part of their goody bag.
