Throw A Hawaiian Party For Kids

Throw a Hawaiian Party for Kids

What could be more fun and exciting than a Hawaiian Party. Grab your lei, grass skirt and pineapple juice and have some fun! Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Decorate with bright silk or plastic flowers. Tie light flipflops and sunglasses to colorful ribbons and hang. Use tropical colored streamers and balloons. If the party is outside, tiki torches add a festive note. Be sure to put a pineapple on the table to be served and enjoyed later.

2. Tell your guests to come dressed in colorful outfits, Hawaiin shirts, grass skirts and printed dresses.

3. Greet your guests at the door with a lei and say Aloha. Leis can be purchased at a party supply store or online at orientaltrading.com and smilemakers.com.

4. Play music with a Hawaiian flair in the background. Elvis Presley's Blue Hawaii is one good choice.

5. Kids love finger food. You probably won't want to roast a pig but you can serve pigs in a blanket (see resource for recipe). Chicken fingers with coconut dipping sauce, fruit salad and other easy dishes kids enjoy.

6. Hawaiian iced tea, tropical punch, alcohol free pina coladas and daiquiris are perfect for drinks. Have little cocktail picks with umbrellas to spear in cherries and other fruits.

7. Be creative with games. The limbo is fun and exciting. Have guests see how low they can go under a long pole, use a shower curtain rod for the pole. Consider a hula hoop contest. Buy two hoops and let guests compete against each other. Make leis using either real or silk flowers. Translate your guests names into Hawaiian. For tips on do the last two activites and for more games see the resource section below.

8. For party favors make little bags for your guests with Hawaiian themed goodies; hair clips with attached flowers, tropical stickers and dollarstore sunglasses. These can also be used for game prizes.

9. Aloha means love and peace in Hawaiian. Use it to say hello and goodbye. Say aloha to your guests when the party is over and give them their little goodie bag treat.
