Word A Baby Shower Invitation

A new life calls for a celebration.


Every baby shower invitation should include the date, time and location of the shower as well as the host's telephone number and email address. An RSVP request should be included with email invitations or a separate, self addressed card and envelope with proper postage can be inserted in invitations sent by regular mail. Invitations should be timed to arrive at least eight weeks before the event. Themed showers, restricted access, such as ladies or adults only, or potluck requests should be indicated, regardless of invitation type. Clear traveling directions are crucial. Instructions


Traditional Mailing


1. Determine a date that suits the expectant mom. Prepare a guest list by asking for contact information from her, if required. You also can decide upon a theme.


2. Purchase printed invitations at a card store. Buy matching RSVP cards and envelopes if possible.


Purchase separate, small RSVP cards and envelopes to be inserted in the invitation envelope, if matching cards are not available.


3. Match your theme to the purchased invitations if possible. Add your own wording to preprinted cards. Compose a personalized poem or look for examples in a baby book or online.


Email Options


4. Search online using the keywords " baby shower invitations" for downloadable templates.


5. Add your own information to the template. Save the completed invitation to "My Documents."


6. Go to your email. Press "New." Add any information not found in your invitation template to an introductory email message.


7. Insert the email addresses of your guests in the "To" field. Open the template and add it as an email attachment. Click "Send."


Wording Ideas


8. Compose a simple, personalized poem, for example: Baby ( surname) is on the way/ Let's get together before the big day/ Outfitting the nursery is our desire/ Contact (hostess name) to learn what's required.


9. Fit your wording to your theme. For example: My sister's expecting a bundle of joy/ The word is out that it's a boy/ The theme for our shower is the wild, wild, West/ Finding buckaroo baby gear is our quest.


10. Design an invitation for the baby whose sex is as yet unknown. Foir example: a baby is coming -- Oh, what will it be?/ Boy or girl? We'll just wait and see/ So come to our party with baby supplies/ Perfect no matter baby's sex, shape or size.
