Ideas For A Sponge Bob Luau

Going to a luau in Bikini Bottom is a dream come true for most kids. To help throw your child a successful Sponge Bob luau, you only need a little bit of creativity and planning. Three key things to make this luau a beach blast include fabulous invitations, Sponge Bob decorations and Sponge Bob games. Does this Spark an idea?

Message in a Bottle Invitation

An invitation does not get much cooler than a message in a bottle. To begin these creative invites, make a list of luau guests and their addresses. Next, obtain clear plastic bottles. These can be recycled soda bottles or bottles found at craft stores. Print off invitations on computer paper. You can print two invitations on one sheet of 8-by-11-inch computer paper. To get the "pirate paper" look, stain the edges with a little bit of dark coffee on a cotton ball. Have an adult use a match or a lighter to burn the edges for an even more authentic look. Once dry, roll the invitation up and tie together with a piece of twine. Before stuffing the invitation in the bottle, put a few small seashells and sand in the bottom of the bottle. Use a cork to close the bottle and place in a small box with shredded blue cellophane. The blue cellophane will represent water. Mail the boxes at a post office. If the price to mail the invitations is too much, consider dropping the invitations off at the guests' houses.

Sponge Bob Decorations

Decorations for a Sponge Bob party will be very easy to find since Sponge Bob Square Pants is a very popular party theme. Most party stores will carry Sponge Bob plates, napkins, tablecloths, banners and table centerpieces.

Another way to decorate for the big luau is to turn your house into the Krusty Krab restaurant. Set up several card tables with tablecloths and pineapple centerpieces. The guests will enjoy getting to sit at different tables, like in a real restaurant.

Although this is a Sponge Bob luau, don't forget to use generic luau decorations. Guests can be encouraged to wear hula skirts, and the host can use coconuts, drink umbrellas, leis and palm tree cut-outs to turn the party into a luau.

Sponge Bob Games

When throwing a luau for children, it is important to organize games to keep them entertained. One game to play is called the Krabby Patty Relay. Split the guests into two teams. Find two play-food hamburgers with the bun, patty, cheese and lettuce. The object of the game is to put oven mitts on and race to a table with a Krabby Patty on a plate. The guest must assemble the hamburger properly, then carry it back on a spatula to another plate. Each team member must do this without dropping the Krabby Patty. The first team to finish wins.

Another game to play is Sponge Bob Act-it-Out. The guests will be split into groups of 4 or 5 people. Each group will choose a plot from a hat and have to act out the plot as a Sponge Bob story. Adults should help children come up with ideas for this game.

Episodes of Sponge Bob can be played in the background so that when the guests wind down, there is something for them to do right away. Also, coloring sheets of Sponge Bob and his friends can be printed off for time fillers. Don't forget that a luau isn't complete until you limbo.
