Ideas For Deployment Care Boxes

When a loved one is deploying for a military position elsewhere in the world, you may opt to send a little piece of home with them. A deployment care box may contain personal effects, as well as convenient self-care items to keep the person you care about comfortable and content. Be creative and invest time in creating a box that you know your friend or family member can utilize during deployment. Make sure to include a letter from home, no matter what theme you choose for your package.

Personal Effects Box

Many deployments are to more remote corners of the world where your loved one won't have access to some of the toiletries and personal effects she normally enjoys. Create a personal effects box with her favorite luxurious shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, body wash and body spray. Even soft toilet paper or baby wipes can be a great addition to a personal effects box. These personal items can help your loved one feel good despite her deployment.

Candy Galore

If your loved one has a sweet tooth for candies and treats that he doesn't have access to where he is headed you can create a box full of his favorite sweet treats. Include everything from gums and candies to snacks like chips and granola bars. This sweet taste of home offers something decadent in the midst of the stress of deployment, and can provide carefree enjoyment despite the distance. Be careful of items that melt, like chocolate, if the box is being sent to a hot environment.

Reader's Package

Soldiers sometimes have to travel long distances when they deploy, spending days in airplanes and on long rides to get to where they are going. Give your solider something to do with a reader's care package. Include books by some of her favorite authors, as well as favorite magazines, gossip rags and and new best sellers in a genre she enjoys.

Game Pack

Put together a little box of fun for your solider. Send a deployment care box full of fun things to do during his deployment. This might include word puzzles, travel-sized traditional games -- such as Scrabble or Pictionary -- and comic books. If your loved one plays a particular game system, include a new game he might not have had a chance to pick up yet. You might also include a deck of playing cards, dice and other individual elements soldiers can use to create a game to pass the time during deployment.
