Indoor Wedding Decoration Ideas

Indoor wedding venues may require some decoration to become the perfect ceremony settings.

Indoor weddings are considered ideal by many brides who don't want the worry of unpredictable weather to put a damper on their wedding plans. Private homes, museums, churches, ballrooms and other indoor locations are commonly used to hold weddings, but they may not look as wedding picture-perfect as a bride-to-be may wish. Indoor wedding decoration ideas help brides design the perfect look for their big day.

Seating

Make church pews and wedding seating part of the wedding decor with a few creative ideas. Tie a ribbon in one of the wedding colors to the end of each pew or chair along the center aisle where the wedding party will walk. Add to the chair decor by buying white tulle fabric and draping lengths of it at the end of each pew. Alternatively, some brides choose to hang flower cones or pompadours at the end of each pew or row of chairs.

Lighting

Lighting can be an important part of the wedding decorations. Use hanging lanterns to create a rustic or vintage effect for the reception and long, white candles to cast a romantic glow over the room where the wedding is being held. Twinkling holiday lights will add a festive look to a winter celebration. To really add an interesting element to indoor lighting, buy colored bulbs for existing light fixtures. Pink lighting will cast a rosy glow while blue lights will create a cool, serene look.

DIY Decorations

With ordinary craft paper, any bride may create her own wedding decorations very affordably. Create paper hanging lanterns out of vellum by cutting decorative, letter-sized paper into 10 equally sized strips. Stack the strips, punch a hole all the way through each end of the strips (approximately 1 inch from the end, and center the hole), and tack the strips together via the holes. Spread out the strips to create a spreadable lantern shape; use clear wire to hang them from the ceiling. Vellum may be used to create a variety of decorations, including garlands and arches.

Aisle Runner

The aisle is an important focal point for any wedding celebration. Members of the bride and groom's families, the entire bridal party and the bride herself walks down the aisle to music, with guests watching the entire time. An aisle runner is a good way to incorporate more decorations into the wedding ceremony. For an extra-special touch, use a monogrammed aisle runner.
