Interisland Day Trips In Hawaii

Take inter-island day tours while visiting Hawaii.

Visit more than one island in the Hawaiian chain and just unpack once. Book a trip with a tour operator that specializes in day trips to the different islands. If you plan on visiting several locales, choosing Oahu or Maui as your base will put you in the middle of the Hawaiian Islands, decreasing your travel time and giving you more flights and tours from which to choose.

Discover Hawaii Tours -- Oahu to Hana, Maui

Start with a pick up from your Waikiki hotel to the Honolulu International Airport to catch your inter-island flight to Kahului, Maui. Once on the island, a 25-passenger mini bus will take you on the "Hana Highway." Cross the 50 one-lane bridges and twist around more than 600 curves as you make your way to the old time Hawaiian town of Hana. Stops along the way include the black sand beach at Waianapanapa State Park, and then on to Puukaa Park for a swim in its waterfalls. A picnic lunch is included. Tour length, including travel time from Waikiki, is 14 hours. The tour is also available for visitors staying on Maui.

Polynesian Adventure Tours -- Kauai to Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor

If you want to spend most of your time on the more laid-back island of Kauai, but still want to visit Pearl Harbor, take a day tour to Oahu. Meet the tour representative at Lihue Airport for your inter-island flight to Honolulu. Once on the ground, your tour bus takes you to Pearl Harbor where you will board the Arizona Memorial. Then take a short ride over to the USS Missouri, also known as the "Mighty Mo," to tour the battleship where Japan signed the surrender papers to end the war in the Pacific. If the ship looks familiar to you, it may well be; it was used in movie "Pearl Harbor," shot partially on location in Hawaii. The tour then continues to downtown Honolulu to see the Iolani Palace, Kawaiahao Church and the King Kamehameha statue. After a visit to Punchbowl National Cemetery you are taken back to Honolulu for your flight to Kauai. The tour is roughly 13 hours, including flight times.
