Inexpensive Tropical Centerpiece Ideas

Inexpensive Tropical Centerpiece Ideas

An escape to the tropics appeals to partygoers any time of year, making the tropical theme a popular one. Whether you choose a general tropical theme, a luau or a beach theme, inexpensive tropical centerpieces easily add the theme to the tables. The guests will enjoy your creative touches and your bank account will enjoy the good value of the centerpieces. Does this Spark an idea?

Tropical Fruit

Tropical fruit are readily available in any grocery store's produce section. Pineapples and coconuts are easy to find and their low price tags makes them fit any budget for a tropical party. Arranging a few of these tropical fruits in the center of the table is all you need for a centerpiece. If you want to add more to it, arrange the pineapples and coconuts on a tropical-inspired tray or bowl. Tucking tropical flowers or leis between the fruit is another simple way to dress up the fruit centerpieces.

Embellished Candles

Cheap candles fit the tropical theme with a few simple modifications. One simple idea is to wrap a bright ribbon or colorful raffia around the middle of a pillar candle with a bright, artificial tropical flower glued to the ribbon. A candle plate with sand and sea shells makes for a theme-friendly base for the embellished candles.

Seashell Candles

Seashells and tea candles are the only materials needed to make your own custom candles for the centerpieces. Remove the metal tea candle holder and slide out the wick with the metal wick holder attached. The wick goes into a seashell that is tipped upside down to form the new candle holder. The wax is melted in a double boiler and poured into the seashells. Once the wax sets, you have custom tea lights that fit the tropical theme. The candles look beautiful when arranged on a tray with other seashell candles, sand and larger, empty seashells.

Dwarf Citrus Trees

Seed-supply companies and nurseries sell dwarf citrus trees for relatively low prices. When placed in a decorative pot, these plants make fitting centerpieces that work with the tropical party theme. Take into consideration the length of time it takes for blooms and fruits to grow on the plants. If you don't have time to allow them to grow fruit, you can attach artificial lemons or limes to the branches, being careful not to damage the plant itself. The initial investment of this centerpiece is low and you can keep it to grow your own citrus fruits after you're done with the centerpiece.
