Kid'S Party Ideas With Spongebob Squarepants

SpongeBob SquarePants is a popular animated series that won Emmy Awards from 2002 to 2009 for Outstanding Animated Program. The program features the adventures of many ocean creatures that live in Bikini Bottom, a city in the Pacific Ocean. The main characters are SpongeBob and his pet snail, Gary, Patrick the pink starfish, Squidward the snobby squid, Plankton the sneaky microbe, Mr. Krabs the owner of the Krusty Krab restaurant and Sandy, a Texas squirrel that lives underwater. You can create a fun-filled SpongBob party by including many of these characters in the festivities. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations

Create SpongeBob party invitations using a yellow sponge cut into a square. Use a picture of SpongeBob as a reference and cut out the eyes, nose, mouth, brown pants and a red tie out of colored paper or foam sheets. Glue the cutouts onto the sponge to look like SpongeBob. Attach arms and legs made from paper, foam sheets or pipe cleaners. Glue a card or piece of paper with the party details like the time, place and RSVP number onto SpongeBob's hand. Mail the party invitation in a small box or large envelope to the guests.

Decorations

Decorate the table with a plain paper tablecloth. Use SpongeBob stickers to decorate the tablecloth or dab the tablecloth with a sponge dipped in yellow paint. Use markers to add SpongeBob features to the yellow sponges. For variety, make a star-shaped sponge and dab pink stars on the tablecloth then add Patrick's features.

In the center of the table, place a SpongeBob cake. Bake a square cake and decorate it with yellow frosting. Mix enough frosting to make white for the eyes and teeth, pink for the mouth, brown for SpongeBob's pants and red for his tie. A plain chocolate bar is the perfect shape for SpongeBob pants also. Use licorice sticks for the arms and legs.

Hang yellow and white streamers, decorated with stickers or all the show's characters. Use mylar balloons with pictures of SpongeBob or yellow balloons with SpongeBob's face drawn on them. Party supply stores carry paper plates and cups with a SpongeBob theme, or you can use plain paper plates and cups in the same colors as the SpongeBob characters.

Activities

Pin the tie on SpongeBob can be played in the same way as the old favorite, Pin the tail on the Donkey. Hang a picture of SpongeBob on the wall and have the children take turns trying to pin SpongeBob's tie onto the picture. The child who pins the tie closest to the correct spot wins the game.

Have all the children sit at a table and give each of them a hamburger roll. Tell them they are in charge of the Krusty Krab and need to make the Krabby Patties. Use plastic food and rolls or real food for the children to eat when they finish making the Krabby Patty. Place a tomato slice, lettuce, a slice of cheese, cooked hamburger or turkey patty, ketchup, mustard and pickle slices in front of each child. Tell the children when to start and the winner is the child who finishes building the Krabby Patty first.

One of Sandy the squirrel's favorite pastimes is karate. Before the party, purchase an instructional beginner karate DVD. Give each child a white belt to wear around the waist put on the DVD. Have the children follow the instructions in the karate lesson and everyone who finishes the lesson gets a prize.

Party Favors

When the SpongeBob party is over, give the children party favors. Fill diving goggles or a sand pail with erasers, pencils, SpongeBob stickers, a SpongeBob stamp, candy Krabby Patties, bubbles, whistles and yo-yos.
