Kids' Homemade Birthday Snacks

Bake homemade cookies for a birthday party.

To create a special birthday for kids, consider making homemade snacks. Making snacks yourself means that you can customize them and control the ingredients, making them not only more unique, but healthier as well. When possible, seek out natural or organic versions of all ingredients. Making kids' homemade birthday snacks doesn't have to be hard work -- get creative and have fun. Does this Spark an idea?

Birthday Sandwiches

Start by making three layers of bread with natural peanut butter between each layer. Add items such as marshmallows between the layers and on top of the sandwiches. Place decorative toothpicks in the middle of each sandwich to keep the bread in place.

Car Theme Party Snacks

Start by breaking graham crackers into fourths. Spread natural peanut butter on the tops of the graham crackers. Place green, yellow and red candy on top to make it look like traffic lights. Kids will enjoy this treat, and it is a relatively healthy birthday snack.

Magic Wand Cookies

Start with sugar cookie dough, and use a cookie cutter to cut out star shapes. As soon as the cookies are done baking, and while they are still warm, push Popsicle sticks between two points of the star. This allows kids to hold the cookies like wands. Frost the cookies with colorful frosting.

Snack Mix

A wholesome, homemade snack mix will delight the attendees of a birthday party. There are no exact recipes; just adjust as you see fit. Start with approximately three to four cups of cereal. An option is cereal made of whole-grain in the shape of small circles. Add one or two cups of animal crackers. Finish it off with one to one and one-half cups of gummy fruit snacks.
