Indoor Kids Birthday Party Games

Indoor Kids Birthday Party Games

To have a successful kid's birthday party you need kid-friendly food, festive decorations and fun games. If you are planning an indoor child's birthday party then choose appropriate games for the space. Indoor party games do not have to be boring. Plan ahead and have good prizes to hand out to all the winners. Does this Spark an idea?

Animal Mimes

Write down animal names on slips of paper before the party. Fold up the paper slips and put them inside a bowl or plastic pitcher. Have kids sit in a circle around the person who will be miming. Have the mime child pull out a slip of paper. Help him read what the word says if he needs it. Tell the child to stand in the circle and imitate the animal on the paper. The first child to call out the animal name correctly becomes the new mime. Give children prizes after they mime.

Squeeze and Guess

Before the party, place some items in a closed box. The items should have different textures; some can even be gooey. Items could include a bar of soap, a piece of bubble wrap, erasers, a hard-boiled egg and a pine cone. One by one, have each child step forward. Blindfold the child and place an item in his hand. Let him squeeze the item and guess what it is. Give each child three guesses. Give prizes to the child who gets the most right.

Freeze and Unfreeze

Place a CD of festive music in a CD player. Instruct the children to dance when the music plays but freeze as soon as it stops. Hit play and let the children dance. Randomly stop the CD and yell "Freeze!" Make the kids hold the position for a few seconds then start the CD again. Keep going for a few minutes, then change the song.

Button, Button

Have kids sit in a line-crossed leg on the floor. Ask one child to be the Button Seeker. Give one child a wide button. Tell the children to put their hands behind their back and pass the button. While they do this they should say, "Button, button. Who's got the button?" After they have repeated the phrase a few times, ask the Button Seeker to guess who has the button. If she guesses correctly, then she gets to join the line, and the button holder comes forward to become the new Button Seeker.
