A pineapple centerpiece can add a fun touch to your Hawaiian-theme party.
Hawaiian-themed parties are fun for all ages. Incorporate colorful beach decorations to transform your backyard, patio or party room. If the weather where you live doesn't quite match the feel of the Hawaii, consider making your own scenery. Paint an island scene on large pieces of butcher paper, set up fake palm trees and drape fishing net over furniture. Set up a fan to mimic an ocean breeze, and let the party begin.
Hawaiian Flowers
Set hibiscus flowers all over your party area. Purchase artificial flowers, leis and tropical leaves to use as the main decoration. Lay tropical leaves on the center of the tables and then set the food on top. Sprinkle flowers or flower petals everywhere.
Float flowers in water. You can fill glass fish bowls with blue-dyed water and then place a large flower on top. Sprinkle flowers in the pool or even in the birdbath.
Grass Skirts
Grass skirts can be used to wrap around the back of your chairs. Use several as a table skirt. Tape them along the outside edge of the table with double-sided tape and then finish the edge with a lei.
Hawaiian Fruit
Incorporate Hawaiian fruit into your decorating scheme. You can use real fruit, or purchase the artificial version. Use pineapple or coconuts as centerpieces with a lei draped around them. You can also hollow out these fruits and fill them with fruit on skewers.
Novelty coconut cups can be used for beverages with tropical umbrellas.
Place coconut-scented candles throughout the party area. Decorate the bathroom your guests will use with Hawaiian-themed posters and leis, and fill the air with the scent of coconut.
Hawaiian Rocks and Sand
Small red lava rocks can be found in garden centers and used to create an authentic Hawaiian look to your party. Fill trays with a layer of the rocks. Place a candle in the middle or a small tiki god statue.
Fill a kiddie pool with sand and set a few shells on top. Stick a brightly painted cardboard cutout of a surfboard in the center for a decoration. Flip-flops can also be poked into the sand so that they stand upright.
