Inexpensive Hawaiian Party Ideas

Host an inexpensive Hawaiian-themed party.

Hosting a Hawaiian party doesn't mean that you have to spend a lot of money. With a little time and a lot of imagination, you can create a party atmosphere by using things that you probably already have at home. A Hawaiian party can be successful by providing guests with entertainment and good food. Get the party started with some simple ideas and don't forget to provide the tropical music and greet each guest with a lei.

Open a Tiki Bar

Whether planning a Hawaiian-themed party for adults or children, the addition of a tiki bar will create a real tropical atmosphere. Use a long table or use several shorter tables side by side and wrap the edge of the tables in raffia.

If you have wooden stools, place a few in front of the table so that the bar becomes another sitting area. Place potted plants (preferably palms) on each side of the bar. Use the bar for food and drinks and add tropical accents that you can purchase in a party supply store such as paper pineapples, leis and a tiki totem. You can even add strings of colorful hanging lights above the tiki bar.

Play Hawaiian-Themed Games

Entertain guests with Hawaiian-themed games that are sure to add life to any party. Probably the most popular game is the limbo. All you need is a long, wooden stick, lively music and a few guests willing to show their limbo skills to play this game.

Learn do the hula and provide guests with hula lessons.

Conduct a flip-flop decorating contest among the guests.

Kids will enjoy a dress-up relay with items such as Hawaiian-print shirts, leis, sandals, straw hats, tank tops, shorts and hula skirts.
