For a complete and rejuvenating getaway in Hawaii, visiting a spa can be an excellent way to unwind. The Ihilani Resort and Spa on the island of Oahu offers private lanais to relax and watch the sunset. The spa, located inside the Marriot hotel, offers an array of services, such as massages, facials and other body treatments. Some spa experiences can be enjoyed by the sea. A Lomilomi massage, offered by the spa, is an authentic Hawaiian massage technique that incorporates both gentle and deep kneading.
Sightseeing
Hawaii is home to historical sights such as the 'Iolani Palace, the only authentic royal palace in the United States. It was home to the kings and queens who once reigned in Hawaii. Tours are given at the palace Tuesday through Saturday from 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Tours last 45 minutes. The Byodo-In Temple is a Buddhist temple that calls Oahu home. The temple sits in a tranquil surrounding of mountains, lush gardens and a 2-acre koi pond.
Waterfalls and Outdoor Excursions
The beautiful waterfalls of Hawaii are sights to behold. Going to see Manoa Falls in Honolulu begins with a casual 1 1/2-mile hike. You will make your way through a bamboo and rain forest before seeing the 150-foot drop of the beautiful falls that descend into a small pond. Waimea Falls, located in Waimea Valley Park, has a red hue due to the volcanic soil that flows in from nearby. It is common to see professional cliff divers at this location, which can make for an exciting show.
