Games provide entertainment at an ice cream social.
A summer tradition that people of all ages enjoy, an ice cream social is a fun way to spend time with friends and family. The guests bring the supplies and you provide the setting for this carefree and tasty occasion. In addition to eating ice cream, guests will enjoy playing games at the event. Does this Spark an idea?
Guess the Ice Cream Flavor
In this game, guests use only their sense of taste to determine different flavors of ice cream. Fill individual bowls with different flavors of ice cream. Chocolate, vanilla and strawberry are standards, but make the game more challenging by adding more unusual flavors, like cinnamon and butter pecan. Blindfold participants and have them take a sampling of each flavor. After tasting each type of ice cream, players must announce which flavor they think they have just eaten. One point is awarded for each correctly identified flavor and the player who earns the most points wins the game.
Ice Cream Sundae Race
This game requires speed, as players race to see who can build an ice cream sundae the quickest. Set out bowls, spoons, and three different flavors of ice cream and toppings, such as chocolate, whipped cream and cherries. Players must place one scoop of each flavor of ice cream in a bowl, place the toppings on the ice cream and put a spoon in their bowls. The first player to finish building his sundae wins the game.
Pin the Cherry on the Sundae
Revamp the traditional Pin the Tail on the Donkey game for an ice cream social. Draw a large picture of an ice cream sundae on a piece of poster board. If art isn't your forte, find a picture of a sundae at Clip Art, blow it up and print it out. Hang the image on the wall. Cut circles out of red construction paper and place a piece of tape on the back of each one. Write the first initial of each players name on the cherry and distribute them to the appropriate person. One at a time, players are blindfolded, spun in a circle three times and pointed toward the sundae image, where they try to place their cherries on the sundae. The player who places her cherry closest to the top center of the sundae wins the game.
No Hands
Players need to be prepared to get messy and get a bit of brain freeze to participate in this game. Fill bowls with three to four scoops of ice cream. Have each player sit in front of a bowl. While holding their hands behind their backs, participants race one another, trying to be the first to consume the ice cream in their bowls without the using their hands. The first player to completely empty his bowl of ice cream is the winner.
