Make Your Own Retirement Invitations

It's time to throw the ultimate party to celebrate the day 9-to-5ers dream about:--retirement. While you're putting together the party itinerary and deciding which decorations and foods to serve, it's also important to make sure your invitations are in good shape.


Instructions


1. Go to a printing supplies store such as Staples or Office Depot and pick up the best card stock paper you can find. The paper you choose should be sturdy, attractive and reflect your personal style. Card stock paper can come in a variety of styles and colors.


2. Use Microsoft Word or any software that is specifically geared toward designing cards, invitations and flyers, and use it to design your invitations. These types of software have applications for invitation designs and templates. Make sure the invitations have pertinent details such as time, location, venue and the nature of the party. "Retirement Party" or "John Doe's Retirement Party" should be emblazoned and bold on the front of the card.


3. Make your retirement party invitations exciting and entertaining with photos, clip art or artistic drawings that reflect the nature of your retirement party. For photos, scan the pictures and save them on your computer. Then upload the photo file into your invitation document. Microsoft Word and other designing software can give you step-by-step guides on do this.


4. Print out your invitations and fold them as indicated on the software you used. Stuff them in envelopes and send them to family and friends you want to attend the party.


5. Feel free to be unique with your retirement invitations and go outside of the normal stock-card paper for your retirement party. If you're working with a party planner, she can help you with this. If not, consider options such as DVD invitations, singing telegrams or miniature cakes with a retirement party invitation message inscribed on it. Retirement parties are a big deal and should be celebrated as such.
