Remove The Front Sight On A P228

Sig Sauer P228 sight removal

The P228 is manufactured by the Sig Sauer Company. It is a lightweight and extremely accurate 9mm handgun. The P228 can shoot accurately up to 100 yards. This weapon is most commonly used by military personnel and law enforcement officers. The sight of the Sig Sauer P228 can be adjusted or removed if desired. Adjustment or removal of the sight is simple if you have the proper tools. A gun sight adjustment tool is required for this project and can be purchased from a gun or sporting goods shop.

Instructions

1. Remove the magazine from the handle of the gun. Move the slide back to see if there is a round in the chamber. If there is, remove this bullet, as well.

2. Disassemble the handgun. With your thumb on one side of the slide and your fore and middle fingers on the other, pull the slide back towards you until it locks. Then, using a small flat head screwdriver, lift the assembly pin and remove. The assembly pin is located on one side of the weapon about half way down the barrel. Remove the front slide by pulling the trigger to release it and moving the slide forward off of the frame. Remove the guide pin by pushing on either end with your thumb and forefinger. Slide the springs off the guide pin. Finally, remove the barrel from the slide.

3. Use the gun sight adjustment tool to position the slide into the locking plate of the tool. Turn the tool clockwise to tighten the locking plate knob.

4. Continue to turn the handle of the gun sight adjustment tool clockwise until the sight has been removed.
