Put Several Small Braids In Long Hair

Use braided hair extensions as another braid option.

The look of several small braids in the hair has its roots in the hippie movement of the late 1960s but has also been sported by the likes of Madonna, Sienna Miller, Blake Lively and other stylish celebrities. Wear small braids in the hair as a loose casual style or use styling products to create a more sophisticated look. Remember to braid hair around the crown of your head carefully to avoid a bumpy braided style. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Gather half-inch to 1-inch strands of hair from the crown of your head and make a few small braids. Make one braid only on either side of your hair, or go for two or three braids each. Create braids in the very front section of hair and space them out so you have a braid in the middle and back of your head on either side, or create braids in the middle section of hair on each side only.

2. Make braids on the underside of hair so they peek through when you move. Such braids can also be moved so they cascade down your shoulders. Create a braid on one side of your head only or make a few small braids on either side of your head. Braids can vary in thickness according to preference.

3. Keep the braids from becoming unraveled by securing them with clear plastic bands or elastic hair ties that are the same color as your hair. Ribbon is another option should you want a more decorative look. Braids that are less than half an inch wide may not need securing.

4. Add any additional embellishments to the braids as desired, such as temporary colored hair dye.
