Make Li Hing Mui Barbecue Sauce For Grilling Pork Ribs

Baste your pork ribs with an original Hawaiin-style barbecue sauce.

If you enjoy barbecue, then you really should try this original Hawaiian-style barbecue sauce with Li Hing Mui and pineapple added to a hardy western-style barbecue base. Li Hing Mui is a small dried plum with a sweet-salty flavor. It's a common favorite among Hawaii locals, although it originates from China. Add the tang of Hawaiian pineapple, and this sauce will be the talk of the town. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Place braised pork ribs in a pan. Set aside.

2. Combine all the ingredients, except the butter and water, in a medium-sized sauce pan. Bring the ingredients to a boil, then reduce the heat and cover. Simmer for 20 minutes. Remove the sauce from the stove after simmering. Add the butter and water and mix until well blended.

3. Baste the pork ribs generously on both sides. Cover and let stand for at least 30 minutes before grilling.
