Ideas For A Fifthgrade Party At School

There are many party ideas for a fifth-grade class.

A fifth-grade class party is an exciting event for a fifth-grade class. When children reach the upper grades, classroom parties are thrown less and less frequently. When a party is held, it is a big event. There are many aspects to throwing a fifth-grade party that everyone should help with to create an entertaining environment and experience for everyone in the class.

Theme

There are many themes that a fifth-grade school party can have. Holidays are the obvious choice for school parties, including Valentine's Day, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day and Halloween. In addition to holiday parties, there are other reasons a class can have parties, including birthdays, class events and special celebrations related to classroom work. You can even allow the children to plan a party on their own, picking the theme, food and other elements of the party.

Games and Activities

Fifth graders typically enjoy playing games at a party. You can make the games and activities related to the holiday, or simply include popular indoor games for the children. For Valentine's Day you may have a valentine exchange for the activity. On St. Patrick's Day, the children could make leprechaun hats or glitter shamrocks. For Christmas, the children could decorate Christmas ornaments. For other parties, the children could play games, such as small relay races or puzzle races.

Food

No party is complete without food. Have everyone in class sign up to bring something. Some children can bring snacks, others can bring desserts, others can bring drinks and other children can bring tableware. After children have signed up to bring foods, the teacher can then examine the list and fill in any necessary items to complete the party. The food should be well rounded and easy to clean up, such as finger foods. If some children have dietary restrictions, the teacher should provide alternative food choices.

Decorations

Have the children decorate for the party a day or two in advance of the event. The children can make decorations in class, or they can bring decorations from home. Allow the children to use classroom supplies to make decorations for desks, tables, windows, the ceiling and anything else that they want to decorate. Have the children write their names on the back of the decorations that they make so they can take them home after the party.
