An adhesive glue is used to secure labels to bottles.
Labels are a common sight on bottles. The label displays company details, brand name, nutritional value and various other important pieces of information. Sometimes, the labels also have coupons or rebates printed on them. However, some labels are difficult to remove and---if not removed properly---you end up ripping the label and voiding the rebate. With a little patience and know-how, you can remove the label from the bottle without damaging the rebate. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
Hairdryer
1. Set a hairdryer on a medium setting.
2. Put on a pair of gardening or work gloves.
3. Hold the hairdryer 4 inches above the bottle. Apply heat to the bottle with the hairdryer in a steady back-and-forth motion. The heat from the hairdryer will melt the adhesive securing the label to the bottle.
4. Remove gloves and gently peel the label off the bottle. If when peeling you feel resistance, stop and apply more heat with the hairdryer.
Steam
5. Fill a teapot with water.
6. Place the teapot on a stove and set to medium heat.
7. Remove the teapot from the heat when it begins to whistle.
8. Pop open the teapot spout and hold the bottle in a gloved hand a few inches away from the spout.
9. Rotate the bottle so that the steam melts the adhesive. Remove the gloves and peel the label from the bottle gently. If needed, reapply steam.
Hot Water
10. Place a funnel inside the bottle.
11. Bring a pot of water to boil on the stove.
12. Pour the boiling water into the bottle using the funnel. Be careful so you do not burn yourself with the hot water.
13. Remove the funnel and secure the bottle's lid in place. Allow the hot water to sit inside the bottle for 5 minutes.
14. Begin to peel the label off the bottle. If you meet resistance, press the label back on to the bottle and start again at Step 1.
