Plan A Surprise 60th Birthday

A surprise party will be remembered for years to come.


Birthdays are a special time to celebrate a person you love. A surprise party is a way to create memories that will last a lifetime. A 60th birthday is a milestone and a great opportunity to do something special. The hardest part about the actual surprise party is the planning. There is a lot of planning involved to get every detail perfect and to ensure the night will run smoothly. 1. Talk with someone who can assist you. You need a person to help you keep the party a secret. This person will keep the birthday person busy on the day of the party; she will also make sure the surprise party recipient arrives to his party at the right time. 2. Pick the date. The date of the party should be on the actual birthday of the recipient or pretty close to the day. Try to have the date picked a month before the actual party. This way you will have plenty of time to plan the party and to let the guests know.


3. Make the guest list. Write down a list of people whom the recipient would like to have at his party. You may need to talk with someone close to the birthday party recipient. Ideally, this person will have the names and addresses of people the birthday party recipient would like to see at his party.


4. Pick a theme for the party. The theme of the party should be something that the guest of honor will love. It should reflect what she likes to do or her personal taste in some way. Make it a fun party to remember. Include the milestone number 60 anywhere you can or make it the theme.


5. Make the invitations. You can make the invitations match the theme or colors of the party. The invitations should list all the important details including the location of the party and what the attire will be. Guests should arrive at least 30 minutes before the surprise.


6. Order and buy anything needed. Order the birthday cake well in advance so the bakery will have it ready. If you want flowers for the surprise party, now is a good time to place the order. Buy any items needed for the party such as refreshments and decorations. When choosing the menu and the birthday cake, keep in mind the likes of the recipient.


7. Decorate the venue. Ask a couple of friends who will be at the party to come early to help decorate. The decorations should complement the theme. Choose baloons, streamers and other decorations that go with the colors and overall feel of the party. The decorating should be done well before the guests arrive.


8. Put out the cake and refreshments. Have everything ready before the guests arrive to avoid any last minute rushing.


9. Get ready to yell "Surprise!" When the guests arrive, collect their belongings and tell them where to hide. You should know exactly where the guest of honor is by keeping in contact with the person accompanying her. Give the guests a two-minute warning and tell them to yell loud! This will surprise the birthday party recipient and give her something to remember.
