Prepare Food For A Tiki Theme Party

You've taken great care in planning the drinks for your Tiki Party and have chosen the decorations to reflect an island attitude. No you must carefully compose the menu to create the full effect of a tropical island paradise. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Plan the menu. Go to alohafriendsluau.com to find traditional dishes from tropical islands such as Hawaii.

2. Make a list of what you need. If you are preparing foods that require a trip to a specialty food store, make a note of it so you can plan for extra time when shopping.

3. Consider a barbecue. No hotdogs or hamburgers here. Think grilled fruit skewers or chicken and Beef Satay. If you have the space, consider a pig roast.

4. Cut fruits and vegetables two days in advance. Be sure to store them separately, especially the fruits, so the colors and flavors don't bleed into one another.

5. Prepare dips and skewers one day before the Tiki Party. Skewers are time consuming. Prepare them the day before so all you have to worry about the day of your party is grilling them.

6. Make your sauces the night before. This will allow all of the flavors to happily meld together and allow you some time for any last-minute activities the day of the party.
