Play The Card Game Hilo

There are many entertaining card games out there like Texas Hold ‘Em, poker, FreeCell, but not many card games mix the fun of trivia with them. The card game Hi-Lo is a fast paced and fun game that requires skills, luck and is a lot of fun.

Instructions

1. The game consists of a standard 52-card deck. You can use multiple decks if you like, but the standard deck is just fine. Remove the jokers and any other cards from the deck before you begin.

2. This is a two-player game, but can also be played with teams if more than two players are available.

3. Hi-Lo is very flexible in some if its rules and the first concept is one of the most flexible parts. This is the trivia section and you may use any type of trivia that you want. You can take trivia cards from other games like Disney Trivia, Sports Trivia, or even create your own trivia questions.

4. Each player/team flips a coin or cuts the deck to determine who goes first.

5. The person who goes first must choose a trivia card and answer the question. If they get that question correct than they can move on to the Hi-Lo section of the game. If they get the answer wrong then it is the other player/team’s turn.

6. With a correct answer, you can move onto the Hi-Lo portion of the game. This is where the deck of cards comes in. After the cards have been shuffled the player flips the top card. This is known as their “starting card”. Then they proceed to guess if the next card in the deck will be higher or lower than that card. Aces are low in Hi-Lo.

7. Study this example: A player flips a Jack. They guess lower and a 7 comes out. They go again. The player guesses lower and a 10 comes out. The player's hand is finished because a 10 is higher than a 7 and the player guessed lower.

8. If their guess is correct then they continue onto the next card, if they miss any of the cards or get a duplicate card, then their turn is finished. Once their turn is finished, the other player/team gets to answer a trivia question.

9. The first player/team to get to the sixth card in the Hi-Lo round wins the round. The game can be played as a best of three or best of five rounds.
