Plan A Hawaiian Wedding On A Budget

Picturesque Playground for a Romantic Wedding

The archipelago of Hawaii--the pearl of the Pacific, surrounded by sapphiric waves--is one of the most popular wedding destinations. Unfortunately, many couples who dream of an island ceremony cringe in advance at what they anticipate the price of a Hawaiian wedding to be. Such fears are unnecessary, however, as it is quite possible to have a dreamy Hawaiian wedding on a budget.

Instructions

1. Research islands as to which one is the cheapest. Studies tend to show that Oahu is the most economical for a variety of reasons: It has one of the most diverse landscapes, as well as a history of better flight deals to the area.

2. Hire a wedding coordinator that you trust, who responds quickly to email inquiries as well as phone calls. They are your 'reality' check from the Hawaiian perspective.

3. Eschew the formal church ceremony for a beach ceremony. All beaches in Hawaii are public domain, meaning there is no cost to wed.

4. Hiring a florist for the bouquet and other arrangements can force many to go above and beyond budgets. In Hawaii, however, there is no need, as the islands abound with markets where a bride can select her bouquet at minimal cost.

5. For table settings at the reception, use local delights. Fill glass bowls with sand, a smattering of seashells and then wreath the glass with paper leis.

6. Piggy-back the honeymoon on with the wedding. When the guests have all the gone, newlyweds can continue to save money and enjoy the romantic atmosphere of Hawaii on their own.
