You can make invitations for free on your home printer.
Invitations for a party or event are an important step of the planning process, as they are often the first thing guests will see in relation to the party. Custom printed invitations from a print shop can sometimes be costly, and printing your own at home for free can save expenses and be a creative activity. All you need is nice paper and a printer, and you can create unique invitations that are not found in stores.
Instructions
1. Open a Word document and type the text of your invitation in the center of the page. Include information like the event time, date and location. Type the text in a font that is pleasing; then, save the document to your computer.
2. Visit an Internet clip art site and choose some free images to add to your invitation. Choose images that correspond with the event like a cartoon hot dog for a barbecue or a party hat for a birthday. Copy the image with your cursor and paste it into your Word document for added decoration. Save the document again.
3. Load card stock into your printer. Card stock is sturdier than regular printer paper. You can purchase card stock at craft stores or office supply stores.
4. Print the invitations using the card stock paper, printing one for each guest whom you want to invite. Let the ink dry before inserting the invitations in the envelopes and mailing them.
